As in the rest of the Canary Islands, most of the vocabulary of La Palma —in the north-west of the Archipelago— is Castilian, but it also includes very interesting groups of words from Portugal, from the ancient language spoken by the primitive inhabitants, and from the Spanish- speaking countries of America, mainly the Caribbean ones.
